Eating out – Three Chimneys

Hubby and I were married on the Isle of Skye in 2009. Before we got married we decided to splash out and went to the Three Chimneys for a family lunch. It was an absolute treat!

The food is very good, and, if you are in the area, definitely worth making an effort to eat at the restaurant. I’m not sure if it’s quite good enough to warrant being in the top 100 restaurants in the World!

We went for lunch, rather than dinner, as the set price is a little more reasonable. Either way, make sure you book in advance!!

The restaurant is very small, and a bit cramped (particularly for a larger group). But the setting is nice – the views are spectacular from outside the restaurant. The service is great. And the food is, as I’ve said, very good.

Between the group we had a taste of everything on the menu that day. Hubby (to-be at the time!) had the seafood platter – must for first time visitors. It’s really very good (though there’s an additional cost to the set price). I had the smoked salmon with quail’s eggs and nasturtium salad – also very good.

The food is complex, but not pretentious. There are lots of good quality produce – local for the most part, but certainly Scottish! And always fresh. It shows in the food – delicious.

(Many thanks to Andrea H for the pics!)
