Eating out: Valvona and Crolla Vincaffe

We were in Edinburgh for a wedding this week and used our visit to eat some very good food. There was much walking – if you’ve seen Princes Street recently you’ll understand why we didn’t get the bus or a cab. But with all that walking I insisted on a coffee stop. And where else would you stop for a coffee but a small piece of Italy – Valvona and Crolla’s Vincaffe.

I had a cappuccino (it was still early enough to be able to get away with one!) and a bombolini (a small doughnut). Both were fantastic. The coffee was excellent, as was the makings of the cappuccino. The doughnut was exquisite. And small enough I didn’t feel too guilty! Oh, I also had a bottle of San Pellegrino water – every sip makes me think of Italy…

The service was good, and the surroundings very pleasant. We sat at the bar, in true Italian style.
