Pretty decorated biscuits: the perfect way to keep a wee one occupied

This pic is one from the vaults! We made up these wee decorated biscuits around Easter four years ago, and I just came across the pic again today. We had our friend and her then 10 year old staying for the weekend. She was gluten-free at the time, so I got some gluten-free shortbread. But they didn’t look very pretty, so I got some handy wee tubes of coloured icing too (writing icing from Dr Oetker or the like).

We had lots of fun decorating the biscuits! My favourite designs were the spider in the web and the bumblebee, done by my mate. When complimented she reminded me she is a qualified nursery nurse!

Anyway, a useful – and tasty – activity for amusing children of all ages – you can use any biscuits, gluten-free or otherwise. I’ve also done it with cupcakes: 24 cupcakes, iced with butter icing, wrapped up on a tray, and delivered with tubes of icing as an interactive birthday present. The crowd love it!
