I was informed by one of my volunteers at work that cake makes them work faster – a good tip! So I’ve been tempting my colleagues with different cakes during a very intense week as we start our big project on earnest.
On Monday I was tempted by Assorted Tarts, a traditional Scottish fancy. I was surprised that the two international members of our team had never had them! The pastry cases are filled with a wee bit jam or the like, and sweet cream, topped with icing. My favourite are the yellow iced cakes flavoured with pineapple.
On Thursday I decided another Scottish treat was in order: Kirriemuir gingerbread, one plain and one iced. It’s very good gingerbread, and pretty well known. And it has raisins.
