Eating out: afternoon tea and cocktails

I love friends who take me to awesome eateries, and 29 was a fun fit for that bill. She got a Group On deal for afternoon tea for two at 29, Glasgow, a private members club in the centre of town. The room where we were served tea was lovely – modern decor and open with lots of different types of seating. We got a sofa and our Prossecco was served soon after we sat down.

The food was nice, and we loved the cool slimline stand it was presented upon. We split the sandwiches as my companion was a vege. We weren’t sure they were quite the “gourmet” sandwiches that were described, but very nice nonetheless.

Teh cakes and so on were super. There was a very nice scone, with tasty jam and cream. Teh other cakes were: a strawberry tart; a peanut and caramel square; a chocolate tort and a lemony fruit cake. All very tasty indeed (even the fruit cake, which I’m not all that bothered about).

The service was good. The staff were very attentive and the service was speedy, but not rushed.

We had a couple of cocktails after our afternoon tea – delicious daiquiris – and drank then in the adjoining bar (another well appointed room).

A lovely way to start a girly afternoon. We continued to Browns on george Square, where we had more cocktails. I had a Vesper martini, which was boozy and deliciously lemony.
