Afternoon tea at Greedy Hill, and sooo many delicious treats!

My friend, Martha, runs pop-up afternoon teas from her home, just outside the village, nicknamed Greedy Hill (a play on the farm’s name, Reediehill).

I took Mum up for the pop-up as a treat the other weekend, and what a treat?! There was a pretty good chance that the daughter of the Fletchers of Auchtermuchty Venison Farm owners John and Nicky Fletcher was going to be able to cook, but she certainly turned out the goods!

The menu speaks for itself:

Plain scone
Cheddar and tomato scone
Venison haggis sausage roll
Smoked mackerel and beetroot drop scone
Mushroom and ricotta pastie
Elderflower jelly
Sticky gingerbread with zesty orange frosting
White chocolate and passionfruit cream

I could wax lyrical about the whole menu – it was all utterly fabulous – but a few delicious points to note include:

  • Smoked mackerel and beetroot are meant to be togehter – seriously.
  • The mushroom and ricotta pastie was divine. Mushroom pasties are a fave of mine, and this was fabulous.
  • The white choc cream was truly splendid!

The food was served on homemade tiered platters, accompanied by masses of tea, elderflower cordial, homemade jam, and Martha’s cheery smile.

We will most definitely be back.
